Open role Tango
Valérie started tango in Geneva in 2009 with Alejandro, and then with Mariela. Driven by tango passion, she moved to Buenos Aires by the end of 2012, where she deepened her knowledge with various teachers (R. Dinzel, Cecilia & Serkan, Rocío & Bruno, Ariadna N., Inés M., Roxana S., the Motivo girls: Dina, Valencia & Luciana). In the same time, she starts study cinema at the National University of Arts. In 2019, she undertook a documentary on feminist movements in tango and discovered open-role tango inside the queer community. She gradually learned to lead, thanks in particular to the inspiring people around her: Soledad N., Eva M., Dani B., Mathilde G., Anahi C., Corinna H. and many others. She started to practice leading with different friends.
Back in Geneva from 2022, where her love of this dance was born, she joins Casitatango and starts to organize Tita Milonga once a month in tribute to women of tango. She invites mostly women artists (DJ, dancer, music composer, singer or musician) restoring balance to a genre with macho roots.
As a dancer, she proposes as well a weeky class for women who want to lead in order to get a better connection wth their dance partner, the music and the space in which one moves. She proposes different awareness exercises to find the best energy distribution in different steps.
She focuses her technique in a active way where both roles communicate to create each tango together. The class is open to different levels, and the idea is to change partner in order to practice with different bodies expression. The aim is to have fun with music, to explore in a relaxed and dynamic way a conversation for two that's just like us. Valérie is also trained in bioenergetics and offers targeted tools to help you gain greater freedom in your dance, with energy flowing freely through every part of your body. For more in-depth work, she also offers private classes.
