Synopsis

Tango has always been associated with machismo. But in recent years, feminist and LGBTQIA+ movements have opened up new avenues for this dance: the development of dual roles, the use of gender-neutral terms such as “leader” and “follower” (rather than ‘guide’ and “guided”). Will 21st-century tango mark a revolution?

The documentary “Disitango, a feminist embrace" gives a voice to the LGBTQIA+ community and women, opening the door to a more egalitarian and inclusive tango.

Synopsis

Tunisia, the era of a cultural revolution brings together a series of interviews with five groups of artists committed to the democratization of culture in Tunisia since the fall of the former dictatorial regime of Ben Ali. Their new right acquired since Ben Ali's departure, freedom of expression, is still in danger and the fight for the democratization of art has only just begun. Through graffiti, contemporary Arabic calligraphy, theater, music, street art, and cinema, they invite civil society, particularly people in the interior regions of the country, to express themselves and reflect on the issues facing the country. Beyond presenting their mode of expression, these “cultural activists” also recount the impact of the revolution, the importance of culture, and their visions for Tunisia's future.
